A World of Art by Henry Sayre is meant to give individuals their first exposure to art and art history. This is the textbook I use for my Art course and it fills that purpose exceptionally well. The book is broken down into 5 segments with a total of 22 chapters. Part One: The Visual World - is about understanding the art one comes across.5/5(5). Graceful curves, and a lack of sharp angles starkly contrasted the Art Deco movement that followed on the heels of Art Nouveau. While everyone has seen famous examples of Art Nouveau in poster and print form, there are also countless gorgeous and collectible books boasting classic Art Nouveau cover art just waiting to be discovered.

This book provides a good overview of the works of Alphonse Mucha. Not only his well known graphical work, but also the paintings, drawings, photographs and design work. The writing in the book is unfortunately a bit pretentious and not particularly helpful. But I find this to be the case with most art books/5.   Henry M.
